ABOUTBy Richard Hacker
Born in West Chester, PA, I spent a few years in Birmingham, AL, then landed in Austin, TX as a 12 year old. I have the distinction of being madly in love with my high school sweetheart (yes, I married her) and we made a life for ourselves in Central Texas until moving to Seattle in 2009. I have been writing most of my life, and professionally in support of my work in management consulting, public speaking and training. In 2009 I threw caution to the wind and have devoted myself to the craft of writing.
My latest novel, a new scifi/fantasy entitled ADDISON SHAW AND THE LORDS OF ALCHEMY, is looking for a home. Okay, my agent is looking. The novel is a co-conspirator. I’m also completing work on a humorous scifi novel, THE BIFURCATION OF DUNGSTEN CREASE.
My work has been recognized, as a finalist in the Science Fiction category of the Pacific Northwest Writers Association literary contest and as best novel in the Science Fiction category at the 2010 Writer’s League of Texas (WLT) literary contest, where in addition, the thriller, TOXIC RELATIONSHIP, was a finalist in the thriller category.
Who are my favorite authors and books?
Gabriel Garcia Marquez, One Hundred Years of Solitude; Isaac Asimov, The Foundation Trilogy; Umberto Eco, Foucault’s Pendulum; Donald Westlake, God Save the Mark; Ernest Hemingway, The Sun Also Rises. Other fav authors include Carl Hiasson, Barbara Kingsolver, Andrea Camilleri, Phillip Dick, William Gibson, Ian Trigellis, Elmore Leonard among others. Friend me on Goodbooks.com for more
When I’m not writing, these days I’m either hiking/walking with the dog, tooling around the backroads of the Pacific Northwest, or singing jazz with the jazz vocal group, OffBeats. I also have a big interest in aviation (instrument rated pilot — although I don’t fly much these days), scooters (I drive a Vespa), history, and cooking (probably love this too much).
